Directed Drawings and 120th Day of School

It's been awhile since I have blogged...
a long while actually.

Here are a few things we've been
up to in 1st grade!

120th Day activities

120th Day of School

Directed Drawings

We are no longer allowed to run
construction paper through our
copy machine and it takes forever
for students to cut out pieces for crafts
using templates.  I admit, I was upset for
months about the no construction paper thing.

UNTIL.....I found a new (and I
think better) way for students to have
an art activity with their writing project.

Directed drawings!

I LOVE how they turn out!
I think they are way better than
a construction paper craft!

Aren't they adorable?!

If you'd like to try it in your classroom,
search Pinterest or you can check out
my art Pinterest board HERE!

Here is our Leprechaun Soup.
As in.....I forgot to make something
to celebrate St. Patrick's Day,
and ran to the store that morning
to purchase a few things for our treat.

Our story souvenir with fiction
and nonfiction stories.

Traps made at home and
brought in to catch the
Leprechaun!

The door that appears in
our room every year.  Each
day the leprechaun puts out
something new... a door mat,
watering can, his hat, etc.

Decorating hats for the
Leprechaun to shrink.
If you try this (which I
highly recommend!) practice
with an extra cup to see what
temperature works for you.

Or this could happen....

I learned the hard way last year.
I had 26 disappointed students.

The leprechaun was here but got away!

Thanks for stopping by!
