Poetry and a Free Earth Day Poem

I love poetry! Have you hear of Giggle Poetry?  I use the poems about family for our Mother's Day Tea. Students choose one to memorize and recite for our mothers during the tea.

I begin every unit of study/theme with a poem...or two or three!  Students keep every poem in a 1 inch, three ring binder.  They pull them out to read as a fast finisher activity.  We also use them occasionally for Read to Someone in our Daily 5 rotations.
At the beginning of each month, we also read that months Chicken Soup with Rice poem by Maurice Sendak.  I typed them up so students can illustrate them and keep them in their binders.  In May, we read June and July, watch the video (old VHS) and eat chicken soup with rice.  I have a big book, which I got through Scholastic years ago.

100th Day of School Poem

Thank you Teaching Blog Addict

It is such a great way to share ideas!

I created this for a good friend's birthday.
I modeled it off of O magazine.
Each page contained a picture with a little write up
of one of her favorite things.  I gave her the magazine first
then I gave her the box filled with the real items!

Funny From a Honey

This isn't mine but I have to share!
As some of the students were coming
in off of the bus, one little preschooler
turns to our speech therapist, who was
walking in at the same time and that
silly little one said to her...
"Ms. Jean! I didn't know you ride the bus!"

HAHAHAHA!!!!!

I will be taking pictures of the kiddos on my iPad
tomorrow using the Old Fart Booth app! It's free and
amazing! I will have my students do the writing
activity on Friday, our 100th day!

Seriously...this picture doesn't do it justice!
My daughter ACTUALLY looks 100 and you
can add hair, facial hair, hats and glasses!

I realized I didn't give credit to another source for
the idea! I saw the idea of using the app somewhere
but can't remember where!
HOW do you all remember where you see things???
