1. Students working together on our Class Pet Inference Investigation!
MADE my week!
They LOVED the poem I wrote! :)
2. Students working on adjectives with
our Adjectives Taste Test!
They tasted a big pickle!
HA! Still cracks me up!
3. The Cookie Caper!
Another inference activity!
I have NO idea where this little
one is going!!
4. I found out triplets are moving
back to our town!
That brings the Kindergarten
class up to 29!
29!!!!!
AND they are headed MY
way next year!!!
5. I gave a lady a ride home after our first big snowstorm here.
She had gone in the ditch. I didn't know her but it's a small town!
She lived MILES and MILES out in the country, down winding, hilly, icy roads! SCARED me to death!
Anyway, I told her my name was Kim and I taught at the school.
I received an email a couple days ago asking if I was the Kim that gave her
a ride and if so, she had something for me. I said I was but that it wasn't necessary and that I hoped someone would help me or my family if needed. She sent me a lovely message in this card AND a $20 gift card to Wal-Mart!
I could have cried.
You hear of people taking and taking and it seems to be all
about me me me so much of the time.....it just renewed my faith in people....
Thanks for stopping by!
I need to go blog hop now!
Have a great weekend!
29 Kindergarteners??? Yikes!!!!...Very sweet story. I live in a small town, too. I guess when you live in a small town, you have to take care of each other! :)

I think that's so cool that you live in a small town :) My town is small, but definitely not as small as yours. Yours sounds picture perfect!!! We're doing an adjective taste test in a few weeks :) We were doing 6 Trait writing a few days ago and decided it would be fun :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like that boy in #2 is balling his eyes out! Ba ha ha! Hilarious!

I found your blog via Doodle Bugs' linky. Love the picture of the little after he tasted the pickle. I couldn't help but giggle when I saw his expression. Love the honesty in a child's face. :)

I teach first grade too and was nervous about my upcoming group of 25!! Hopefully they will be a good group for you!! I am jealous of your taste testing adjective activity. I used to do a similar adjective activity in which they had to describe a cookie using all of their senses, however now our school has banned all food in the classroom. =( There were too many students with allergies and diabetes so the district completely did away with it. It took some of my best lessons along with it!
ReplyDeleteBy the way I am your newest follower. Love getting ideas from fellow first grade teachers!
Hanging Out in First!
