Mentor Text Linky: What's With This Room?

Language Arts

What's With This Room?
by Tom Lightenheld

Opinion Writing
Debating
Point of View
Predicting

Hilarious

This story is about a little boy
and his disaster of a room.
The story begins from the point
of view of his parents and changes
to the little boy's point of view.
(Common Core RL6!)

The illustrations are awesome
and funny! It is written in rhyme
and is just hilarious!

"Your stinky old running shoes
got up and ran,
outstunk by your underwear
hung from the fan."

The end is a surprise so have
the students make predictions!
Oh, you thought I was going to tell
YOU the ending?!?!

Nope! You will have to get the book
to find out what happens!

Check out a previous post here
about this story and the packet we
used with it! I plan to add more
ELA activities to the packet...
once I get some software on this
new laptop!

  2. What a hoot! This is one that I must have, as one of my favorites of all time is his "Everything I Know About Monsters..."! Thanks so much for sharing! This is what I like so much about the mentor text link up with Collaboration Cuties--I am discovering wonderful texts by authors that I love. I have not looked into any more of his publications in a long time... ALSO--I just discovered your blog doing the link up and have become a follower. I will be back...

    All the best--

  3. I can't wait to read this book. We read "Joe's Junk" as a reading assessment - this sounds like it would be a great book for making connections with it! Just found your blog through the linky - can't wait to explore!
