A Little Late....A Little Early....Remind101

I will start with my
"a little late"!

Since school has already started
for most, you can file it away for
next year if you are interested!

It's a freebie!

    Classroom Freebies Manic Monday
We have used the purple take home
folders for years at our school.
Most call them MOOSE books, but
I, of course, call them SAFARI books!

Now for my
"a little early"!

Okay...this may be a lot early...

This is a story I wrote, packed
with 18 common core activities to go with it.

No pictures are included in my story.
Students become the illustrators
and then you bind it and have a class
book for them to reread!

I hope you check it out!
Click here or the picture above!

Here is a peek at what is inside!

Here's a question for you...

HOW do you all manage NOT
to laugh...when one of your little
angels passes gas so LOUD and the
ENTIRE class bursts out laughing?!?!

It took everything I had folks...
everything I had...

I may or may not have let out
a little snicker or two...
not because passing gas is funny
of course...those kiddos laughs are
contagious!

This site is awesome! Parents can sign
up, only takes a minute, and you can send
a mass text to remind families about things
such as sack lunch, field trip, school pictures,
unplanned early outs, etc. It is private, no
phone numbers are shared, and they can't
respond back. You will need to get the free
app if you want to send messages by cell
phone, otherwise it can be done from the
computer on your Remind101 homepage!

Here is a little peek at our week!

We have been building stamina for
Daily 5, working on routines and rules
and getting out early due to the heat...
EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Makes it hard to establish routines!

I ended up with 27 students.
This is my largest class ever in 13
years of teaching! We sure have
a tight fit in my classroom!

I haven't been snapping pictures
of all of our activities either.
There just doesn't seem to be time!

I am pretty disappointed by this fact.
I started my blog in October last year
so I didn't get to blog about all of my
back to school activities.
Maybe next year!

This is a quick list of our 1st week.
We are working on routines, procedures
and attention-getters.
Whole Brain all the way!

Monday- First Grade Jitters & Jitter Juice
The Kissing Hand & handprint sugar cookies
with a red frosting heart in the center.
I put frosting on the fingertips of the cookies
for the girls for nailpolish.

Tuesday- Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Chase
& CCBB treats ) Alphabits & Cocoa Puffs
mixed like Rice Krispie treats...
I did have one left so I got a picture.

Wednesday- Will I Have a Friend?
Sugar cookies & orange juice (from the story)

Thursday- The Crayon Box that Talked
Scribblers popsicles

Friday- My Teacher Sleeps in School
Cakes decorated like the cake in the book

Now, if you are like me, I am
always curious about other
1st grade lesson plans.
editable version on TPT for free!

It shows up wonky on the preview,
but when I downloaded it for a test,
it was fine.

FREEBIE PLAYING CARDS!

If you have a casino in your area,
they may donate their decks of
used playing cards to you!
They can only use them so many
times so they are in great shape
and they have a ton.
Just take out the face cards
and you have easy and FREE
math centers for games.

No more copying, laminating
and cutting out number cards!

There are so many games to play!
Addition War, 10's Memory Match,
Tens Go Fish, to name a few!

Math Daily 5 & 2 "Chicken" Games

Click the picture for two
freebie game ideas!

I love the Daily 5!
I have been using it for several years.
I have been searching for a way to
simplify math centers and was so
excited to see The 2 Sisters are
developing the Math Daily 5!

I have adjusted it to fit my time frame.

We will have our whole class lesson and
then have paper practice together.

The students will then go to two centers
on Monday and Wednesday and two on
Tuesday and Thursday. Every other Friday
will be store and the opposite Fridays will
be whole class games.

Two groups will go to the first 2 centers
and two groups will go to the second 2 centers.

It is actually the Daily 4 as I combined two.

Me (small group) and Math with Someone
Math Games and Math Tools

I have also started making a chart
of the games, tools and Math with
Someone activities they will be doing.

Several of these activities are from
my TpT store (free and for sale)
and several are from other TpT stores
(free and for sale).

Fast Finisher Files

Here is something new I am trying
this year. I had several "fast finishers"
last year and I scrambled to find things,
besides read a book, for them to do.
I created this chart with cards.
I will display 2 or so choices a day that
the students can pick from if they finish
an assignment early.
I also made a guided reading chart
(trying for the first time
this year too) and two hand signal signs.

It is for sale in my TPT store.
Click the picture if you'd like to
check it out!

Also available in chevron!
Click the picture if you'd like
to check this one out!

I created two fast finisher tub
cards in the above products.

Fast Finisher Tub #1 (zebra basket), will
contain these fast finisher folders.
This product contains 30 labels
to glue to clasp envelopes.
I laminated the envelopes,
(open of course), cut a slit in the
opening, added Velcro dots to keep
them closed and have begun adding
different activities.

the Freebie!

Some of the activities I have
put in so far are cards from
a Highlights Buzz Blast game

(which is too loud for my classroom,
but the cards are perfect for the folders)

( a freebie by Mr. Elementary Math)

alphabet flash cards for the students to put
in abc order (a freebie from Jolanthe Erb)

I have these neat task cards on my wishlist!

Task Cards for Math: School Theme {First Grade CCSS}

They are from More Than Math by Moe.
These cards are for the beginning of 1st
and she is making more for the rest of the year!
I will put these in Fast Finisher folders as well.
They will either keep the recording sheet in their
math folders for writing down the answers or
I will include dry erase markers so they can
just write the answers on the cards.

I put in 4 Buzz Blast cards in folders 1-5.
I put in 1 set of dominoes in each folder 6-10.
I put a set of the alphabet flashcards in
each folder 11-15.
I put my Top Ten lists in folders 16 and 17,
five lists in each.

Fast finisher tub #2 will contain several
activities. One will be this product I created.
The 64 color coded math activity cards included
are all 1st grade common core aligned!
There are also color coded dividers, labels
for your index holders/recipe boxes and
a "cookbook" to record their names when
they complete the activities.

Throw in a 2 minute sand timer
and chef hat for extra fun!

It is for sale in my TPT store.
