Tooth Truth

Truth: Students LOVE studying teeth,
LOVE losing teeth, LOVE wiggling their
teeth, LOVE wiggling their friends teeth,
LOVE talking about their teeth, LOVE talking
about their friends teeth...

Truth: I do not love teeth,
do not love when they lose their teeth,
do not love when they wiggle their teeth,
do not love when they wiggle their friends teeth,
do not love talking about their teeth and
especially do not love talking about their
friends teeth.

However, as the adult in the situation,
and as a teacher of 1st graders (who are
continually losing those things),
I do love to see their excitement.
So...I stifle my impulse to
run screaming...and pull out the teeth...
lessons, crafts and activities that is...
no teeth pulling here for me!

Q: What did the judge say to the dentist?
A: Do you swear to pull the tooth, the whole
tooth and nothing but the tooth?

We are finishing up our dental health
unit this week.  This should have been
completed the 2nd week of February.
However...having been hit by the coldest
winter EVER, we are really behind!
Late starts, early outs, cancelled school...
Don't get me wrong! I was very excited each
and every time I got the text...
I'm like a kid that way...
but it has put us way behind!

We will be playing this game and
reading the poem tomorrow
to end our unit of study!

We also do several activities from
Sarah Cooley's packet
including the egg/tooth decay experiment.
The students are amazed at what
happens during this experiment!
I forgot a picture, but believe me,
it is cool and nasty all rolled into one!

Thanks for stopping by!
