Back to School BBQ: Resources & Recipes!

I have a unique, fun
partner activity to feature
for this blog hop.

Students will work together
to create a restaurant name,
logo, and kid's menu with
prices and activity mat.

They take turns ordering
from the menu and adding
up the total for the bill.

Real world skills all the way!

Peanut Butter Play Dough!

I start with a fiction and
nonfiction story.  I make
the peanut butter play dough,
hand each student a golf ball
size chunk and they use it
to spell sight or spelling words.
Of course, they get to eat some too!

  1. Your Order Up product looks like something the kids would adore! I remember my kids had a drawer with play money and empty food boxes. They spent all the free time they could at that center. The peanut butter play dough recipe looks yummy, like the buckeye peanut butter balls. I bet the kids in your class have a blast learning.

  2. LNHagwood@aol.com I love the menu idea especially the fact that not only does it integrate multiple subject areas but it also promotes students working together towards a common goal. Wonderful!

  3. I would love the Order Up activities. We have had play centers taken away from us, but are finding ways to incorporate them into other parts of our day. Our school system is also working on implementing Problem Based Learning. This would be great for my kindergarten class to use.

  4. I would love this. twuwuv4me@yahoo.com. I did something similar in TK but I made the menu with pictures and word with price and servers wrote down customers order and brought it to the chef who had to match the writing from the server to the item and then deliver and collect payment. I am moving to kindergarten so this would make a great step-up for a favorite activity.
