I Will Be.....Missing!

I DO NOT....I repeat
DO NOT
like to miss school.....
for ANY reason!
Who's with me here??
Guess what?
I have to miss school the
DAY AFTER
the kids come back from break!
UGH!
It is for a good reason though, which I
can't mention, on the off chance my
oldest daughter would read my blog.
She's 17.....
not highly likely but better not chance it!
Anyway, I decided NOT to tell the
kiddos I would be gone and instead
made a couple of activities for
the sub to do!
An inference investigation!
My Teacher is Missing Inference Investigation
Click the pic to check it out!
AND
A writing activity with missing poster and
an orginal poem by me!
My Teacher is Missing Writing Activity and Missing Poster
Click the pic to check it out!
They are both for sale in my TPT store!
Thanks for looking....
and I better get BUSY on something else...
like dishes, running, grocery store, laundry,
cleaning, sledding with my youngest (I promised),
(checking facebook and pinterest and other blogs)
:)

New Year's Linkies

Teaching Maddeness
                           10. Eat less
                             9. Sleep more
                             8. Text less
                             7. Exercise more
                             6. Work less
                             5. Learn more
                             4. Nag less
                             3. Organize more
                             2. Worry less
                             1. Relax more
I think that about covers it!
Short and sweet!

One more...I came back to add this one!
Kristen at A day in first grade made this resolution
and I am stealing it!

To show a random act of kindness once a month
to a friend, co-worker, neighbor or even stranger!

Kristen is going for two I believe...but I think
one is a perfect goal for me!

Read her wonderful blog post!

A day in first grade

Oh, yeah..... and to start running again...
though that doesn't sound quite so fun!
BTW.......HOW do I get a button??
And a blog signature??
SO much to learn!!
I've googled it and it sounds so HARD!
I don't have a picture to use either!
I'm willing to pay someone to
create one for me!

AND.........if you've kept reading........

Here is my first act of kindness!

I am giving away any item from my tpt
store to the first 5 people that comment
and that follow me!

Have a great one!

Going Nowhere!

I don't want to go anywhere during my Christmas break...well
 after the parties of course!

I mean....seriously....
NOOOOOWHERE!

Not for laundry soap...
"Wear it again!"
"But mom...it's UNDERWEAR!"

Not for food...
"I'm sure there is some candy left...somewhere!"
"But mom...we want REAL food!"

There is nothing in the world like sitting at home
doing zilch during a school break!

Even more so since my children are getting older and have to
be EVERYWHERE all the time and I am spending more and more
time at school planning common core lessons and.....
(since I am getting older too!)

"Sigh"....I guess I am going to have to go somewhere after all.....

we are out of toilet paper...AGAIN!

*FYI..my kids do get fed....
and use a lot of toilet paper apparently! :)

Here's to a less busy day!

You're a Mean One..Mr. Grinch!

Grinch Day!!
The morning started out with students discovering their red candy canes from Rex, our classroom elf, had been licked green by none other than....
The Grinch!

We decorated door hangers for our bedroom!
While we worked throughout the day,
we listened to the Grinch's song on youtube!

Oops!  She was going to show the "Stay Away" Grinchy side!
Hence the grinchy look!!

We decorated Whoville trees to eat!

We drew pictures and labeled our favorite characters from the story.

Our mystery reader, a mom, even got into the Grinch Day spirit!

We enjoyed Grinch Juice and ate our trees as we watched the cartoon version of
The Grinch That Stole Christmas!

The juice was magically there when we returned from practicing for our
music concert! LOVE children's imaginations and excitement!

Grinch faces!

Happy faces!

Rex, relaxing, reading our favorite monthly poem book!
Chicken Soup with Rice
He didn't get into the whole Grinch Day!  I assume it had something to
do with the candy cane ordeal!
Wonder what may happen next?!?!?

Techy Santa by Reagan Tunstall

Our elf, Rex, has left each of us a candy cane!
Check out my TPT store for the Elf on the Shelf Candy Cane Gift Tag!

I switched them out with green candy canes and a tag from the Grinch, which I can not sell or even give away since it says the Grinch and has his picture. :(
The Grinch is in the tree now! Can't wait until tomorrow when the students see them!!

Pictures for an ornament!

Wellllllll......I didn't get 12 pictures taken yesterday!  I tried!

Ready, Set, ACTION! Verbs that is!

Here's just a few of the verb activities
we have been doing!
Keep reading for a FUN activity one of my cuties
invented the other day!
Brainstorming Verbs

Sure wish I could make my charts adorable like the ones
all over the teacher blog world and pinterest!

We did our Gingerbread Unit and this product
from Christie at First Grade Fever
was PERFECT!

Click here to get her FREEBIE!

On the last day of our Gingerbread Man unit,
guess who we finally found?!?!
There he was sitting in our hallway!
He even left Gingerbread Men for us to eat as our
first batch of Little Debbie Gingerbread Men were sadly
destroyed earlier in the week in a science experiment,
"What happens when the Gingerbread Man gets wet?"
*Note the Missing posters in the background!
These posters were hung all over our elementary.

Check out the  missing poster and a
couple of other freebies in my tpt store!
 Check them out
here , here, and here!

Maybe I should have put them all into one product, huh?!?!

Anyway, one last plug for the
Gingerbread Man and my products!

Click here for a narrative writing activity!

NOW to the fun activity my student created!
We watched this youtube video on verbs.

(Sounds like Dr. Jean??)

My student then says, "Hey!  I have a game for us!
We can get with a partner and take turns
clapping and saying:

Student 1
How about you?
What can you do?

Student 2
I can (insert verb)

It was a BLAST!
They do the clapping and actions , just like in the video!
They loved it and my student was so proud he invented it!
